 in keeping with their determination to promote non-violent civil action, members of the February 25 Movement in Mauritania staged an unusual and interesting action in Nouakchott marketplace this weekend. Engaging with folks there, the activists used a DIY cardboard telescope as a talking point about financial insecurity and economic hardship. 

They had flyers to distribute, drawing attention to the key issues and pointing out that General Aziz draws a whopping presidential salary of 7 million Ougulya (MRO) a month. That is the equivalent of USD 24360 / EUR 17710. Average monthly income for those among Mauritania's 3.4 million inhabitants fortunate to have a job is USD 60 / EUR 43.
